The goal of the project was to transform a neglected area in the middle of a residential district into an attractive public space, divided into two distinct environments. While the park serves as a place for leisure and transit, the area leading to the health center provides space for occasional markets.
The public space at the intersection of Kazanská and Čiernovodská Streets in Vrakuňa has been revitalized into a high-quality public area with seating areas, abundant greenery, and a designated space for occasional markets. The area was originally in poor condition, with damaged paved surfaces and worn paths across the grass.
As part of the revitalization, the territory was divided into two characteristic environments – an alley and a park. The park was created by transforming a grassy area with mature pine trees into a space for both relaxation and transit. It is divided into two triangular zones.
The triangle adjacent to the corner of Kazanská and Čiernovodská Streets serves as a resting area. Its surface is covered with gravel pavement, complemented by newly planted trees. The identity and clarity of the space are further enhanced by the placement of lighting fixtures, which help define the area until the trees reach full maturity. New lighting and urban furniture, which serve both as seating and visually interesting elements, have been added to the park.
Minimal interventions were made in the triangle that already contained greenery. Several benches were added along the boundary between the two areas.
The concrete surface leading to the entrance of the health center was redesigned to create a welcoming entrance area while also serving as a venue for occasional, yet regular events, such as markets and fairs. Its linear design is emphasized by the planting of a new tree-lined alley, offering much-needed shade. The surface is made of high-quality material, with slope adjustments to ensure proper drainage toward the newly planted trees.
Throughout the entire area, new bicycle stands, trash bins, and benches were installed. The public lighting system was also renovated and expanded as part of the revitalization.
