From August 16 to 19, 2022, an international business trip was undertaken to participate in meetings with representatives of the city of Bergen, a partner in the ACC01P03 project “Climate iáResilient Bratislava.”
We took part in a working session of the ACC01P03 project, discussing key topics such as Bergen’s transformation in the context of climate change, urban planning strategies, and participatory planning processes aimed at reducing the climate footprint in the water management sector.
The session was followed by presentations of completed projects showcasing city planning efforts and the engagement of various community groups. Examples were shared on collaboration with residents for the design of adaptation measures within the city. The afternoon featured a guided tour of Bergen, including a visit to the UNESCO-listed site and demonstrations of water retention solutions implemented in the area.
Further participation included attending another working session of the ACC01P03 project, with thematic discussions on urban planning in Bergen and the renovation of Bergen City Hall, focusing on energy efficiency improvements and climate impact assessments. The session concluded with a guided tour of the city hall, highlighting the implemented energy-saving measures.
In the afternoon, we explored the development of new green and blue infrastructure projects in Bergen. This included the transformation of brownfields into vibrant urban districts featuring climate adaptation measures, with a particular emphasis on water retention solutions.
